AQnowledge tools are free to users. There are no installation, maintenance or usage fees.

The AQnowledge tools are available as a scientific PDF-reader (in collaboration with UtopiaDocs) and soon also as a ‘bookmarklet’ to use in browsers.

Uniquely, with the Utopia-AQnowledge PDF-reader even PDFs are fully web-interactive (as long as you are online, of course)*.

The tools semantically enrich scientific literature by recognising concepts, highlighting them, and then enabling you to navigate literature and databases via links in the sidebar.

If any concepts of interest are not highlighted by the software, users can do so themselves, click ‘explore’, and follow matched links generated in the sidebar.

No more re-typing or cutting-and-pasting of concepts of interest into search boxes, since a simple click suffices to get a direct link to the information you select.

Link-outs currently included are to the references in the paper you’re reading, to recent literature in PubMed, to the Research Collaboratory for Structural Bioinformatics (RCSB) Protein Data Bank, Uniprot/Swissprot, EMBL-EBI, Wikipedia, laboratory product catalogues and to many other resources (more continually being added).

The AQnowledge tools can be used with any PDF* or scientific web site.

Users can comment on articles, and share those comments with the community without further effort (requires registration; anonymous comments are not permitted).

*Does not apply to bitmapped PDFs – pictures of text pages.
